Howard Steamboat Museum & Mansion

An 1894 22-room Richardsonian Romanesque mansion built by a prominent riverboat family that serves as an eccentric shrine to 19th-century inland steamboat construction.

The move: Climb the grand black walnut staircase—built by shipyard woodcarvers to mirror a paddlewheeler interior—and marvel at hand-carved steamboat models and a massive 22-ton forged steel paddlewheel shaft.

Where: 1101 E Market St, Jeffersonville, IN 47130
