Entry No. 8 — the Milwaukee file — filed under: medieval chapel

St. Joan of Arc Chapel

Originally built around 1420 in France's Rhône Valley, this authentic medieval Gothic chapel was dismantled stone-by-stone, transported across the Atlantic, and reassembled in the heart of Marquette's campus.

The move: Step inside the quiet 600-year-old stone sanctuary and feel the legendary 'Joan of Arc Stone' near the altar, which lore says has stayed noticeably cold to the touch ever since Joan prayed and kissed it in 1429.
