Boyd Mill Ruins

The Boyd Mill Ruins are the historic remnants of a 19th-century grist mill complex situated along the West Harpeth River. Built around 1840 by William A. Boyd, the turbine-powered mill collapsed during a storm in 1900. Today, the site features well-preserved limestone foundations, stone piers, and a turbine pit, representing the best-preserved 19th-century mill ruins in Williamson County.

The move: Take a scenic drive along Boxley Valley Road to read the historical marker and safely view or photograph the old stone foundations of the mill from the public roadside.

📍 Before you go The ruins are located on the private property of the historic Boyd-Wilson Farm (which also operates as the private Boyd Mill Farm). While they can be viewed from the public Boxley Valley Road or the West Harpeth River, visitors should not trespass on the private farmland without permission.
