Entry No. 23 — the New Orleans file — filed under: art-immersive
Studio BE
Muralist Brandan 'BMike' Odums turned a 36,000-square-foot Bywater warehouse into a single immersive environment of building-scale portraits, spray-paint murals, and installations centered on Black history, civil rights, and everyday New Orleanians. The work spills from floor to ceiling so you walk through it rather than past it. It opened in 2016 and continues to operate as a gallery with self-guided and guided tours.
The move: Take the self-guided walk through the warehouse together and pick the one floor-to-ceiling portrait that stops each of you cold, then compare notes over coffee nearby.
