Yukon's Best Railroad Museum / Yukon Historical Museum

The Yukon Historical Society Museum Complex is a genuinely operating cluster of small museums anchored by an 1910 schoolhouse (the Historical Museum) and a separate railroad building nearby, open Thursdays 1-4pm and Saturdays 11am-3pm. The 1910 building carries well-documented local ghost lore — including a top-hatted apparition in the old gym said to sit atop a filled-in horse-carriage morgue — covered by Oklahoma paranormal sites and local news.

The move: Visit on a Saturday when both the Historical Museum and Yukon's Best Railroad Museum are open; start with the railroad displays and vintage flour-mill history, then ask a docent about the gym's haunted backstory and see the mannequin-filled period rooms for yourselves — finish with a walk along historic Route 66 / Main Street a block away.

📍 Before you go Everything clusters at Third and Cedar, just north of Main Street and historic Route 66 — the two addresses are really one downtown corner, so park near the railroad tracks and you'll find the 1910 schoolhouse, the railroad boxcars and caboose, and the E.R. Berousek farm museum within a short walk of each other. It only opens a couple of afternoons a week, so plan around that narrow window; admission is donation-based rather than ticketed, and you can arrange a private tour by appointment. Pair it with a stroll down Yukon's Route 66 Main Street, Garth Brooks's hometown turf.
