Entry No. 31 — the San Diego file — filed under: repurposed factory
Bread & Salt
A 45,000-square-foot former industrial bread factory converted into a raw, warehouse-scale experimental arts center — exposed concrete bays hold rotating exhibitions (currently 'Sweet Dreams'), an artist residency, a zine, and a podcast, with the Athenaeum Art Center's Logan Heights satellite operating out of the same building.
The move: Walk the current exhibition in the cavernous former factory bays (Tue–Sun 11am–4pm), then time it for the second-Saturday Barrio Art Crawl when the building and its neighbors stay open into the evening.
