San Diego Model Railroad Museum

North America's largest model railroad museum at 27,000 square feet, built and still tended by four rival local model-railroad clubs, including a 4,500-square-foot HO-scale recreation of the actual San Diego & Arizona Eastern Railway route through the desert.

The move: Crouch to track level to watch tiny trains cross real Southern California terrain in miniature — Tehachapi Pass, the Anza-Borrego desert — then compete to spot the smallest hidden detail in the dioramas.

Where: 1649 El Prado, San Diego, CA 92101
