Entry No. 12 — the Santa Cruz file — filed under: stained glass
Kiss My Glass
A cluttered, decades-old shopfront on 7th Avenue — the Facebook page puts it at 43 years in business — stacked with sheet glass, bins of handmade beads, and finished stained-glass panels. Beyond retail and restoration of heirloom windows, it runs hands-on classes covering everything from beginner copper-foil work to lead came, mosaic, and lampworking (torch-melted glass beadmaking).
The move: Take a copper-foil stained glass class together and cut, grind, and solder your own small panel or suncatcher to take home; the lampworking/beadmaking option lets a couple melt glass rod over a torch to pull their own beads.
