The Perfumer's Apprentice
What began in 2004 as a small perfumery-supply shop in a Santa Cruz loft grew into a professional fragrance-ingredient house sourcing from Givaudan, Firmenich, and IFF — the kind of raw materials working perfumers actually use, not hobby kits. Their boutique moved to Scotts Valley in 2016 and still runs a walk-in-feeling "Introductory Perfume Creation" class in a small, quiet room where they serve tea and pastries while you build a scent from scratch.
The move: Book the $75 Introductory Perfume Creation session (1.5–2 hours, reservations required): sip coffee or tea, choose from 45 professional fragrance ingredients with an instructor's guidance, and leave with a custom-blended 10ml spray or coconut-oil roll-on you formulated together.
