Anchorage Makerspace (Intro to Flameworking)
A nonprofit community maker space in midtown Anchorage that periodically runs a beginner 'Intro to Flame-Working' (a.k.a. Flameworking 101) workshop, where you sit at a torch and learn to melt and shape glass with the flame. Sessions are small (3-4 people) and led by visiting glass instructors, a genuinely uncommon hands-on experience for a date. The torch classes aren't on the standing schedule, so you'll want to check current listings or contact them first; alongside it the space runs laser cutting, CNC, 3D printing and other fabrication classes, so the vibe is collaborative and unpolished rather than franchise-slick.
The move: Take an Intro to Flameworking class together and each shape a small molten-glass bead or pendant at the torch under an instructor's eye.
📍 Before you go Flameworking classes are scheduled occasionally rather than daily, and may require a class fee or short-term membership; check their Facebook events calendar or classes page for the next open session.
