Oakland Mill

Constructed in 1850 by John L. Ross, the Oakland Mill was a thriving stone textile mill in Burrillville, Rhode Island. After suffering devastating fires in the late 20th century, the complex fell into complete abandonment and decay. Today, only the stone skeleton of the main mill, a crumbling office building, and a historic dam across the Branch River remain, slowly being reclaimed by nature.

The move: Park at the small lot off Mill Street and take a scenic walk along the adjacent trails to photograph the impressive stone facade and the cascading water of the Branch River dam from a safe distance.

📍 Before you go The mill ruins are located on private property and are structurally hazardous, with collapsing roofs and floors, but they can be safely viewed from the adjacent public trails and the Branch River.
