The Jawbone

About 80 miles north of Bozeman in tiny White Sulphur Springs, The Jawbone is an unexpectedly refined, 1920s-style speakeasy cocktail lounge and eatery run by twin sisters who opened it at age 20. It pairs rotating food specials with a serious craft-cocktail program, and has quietly become one of central Montana's most talked-about rooms. It keeps short days -- Thursday through Sunday evenings -- and reservations are recommended.

The move: Make the drive north for a candlelit dinner-and-cocktails evening, booking ahead since it's only open Thursday through Sunday.
