Entry No. 9 — the Butte file — filed under: haunted
Dumas Brothel Museum
Built in 1890 and run continuously as a brothel until 1982, the Dumas claims the longest stretch of any brothel in U.S. history, and it now survives as a museum of that trade. Tours wind through the cribs and rooms where the business operated, and the building has a heavy reputation for paranormal activity, with overnight ghost-hunting events on the calendar. It is a frank, strange, single-subject museum unlike anything a chain attraction would mount.
The move: Take the daytime tour through the old cribs, then come back for one of the after-dark paranormal events if you both have the nerve.
📍 Before you go Tour-only with limited days (roughly Wed-Sun in season, varying in winter) plus by-appointment and ticketed paranormal events; call (406-351-9922) to confirm.
