Entry No. 21 — the Charleston file — filed under: gallery
Redux Contemporary Art Center
A nonprofit warehouse-turned-studio building on Upper King where working painters, printmakers, and mixed-media artists rent affordable space behind glass — you're not just viewing finished work, you're walking past artists mid-process. The two street-level galleries (Gallery 1056 and the project space) flip shows every few weeks, recently running a Juneteenth-themed group exhibition alongside the annual studio-artist survey "Creative Corridors: Analog."
The move: Wander the free open studios on a weekday afternoon (Tue–Fri 11–5, Sat 12–3), then argue about the current gallery show over coffee on King Street a block away.
