Entry No. 26 — the Cincinnati file — filed under: architectural oddity
Mushroom House (Terry Brown Architecture Studio)
Designed over 14 years by University of Cincinnati architecture professor Terry Brown, this organic fairy-tale structure features warped cedar shingles, irregular porthole windows, and a bright orange spiral staircase winding into a copper-sheathed cone.
The move: Grab an iced latte from Hyde Park Square and take a sidewalk stroll down Erie Avenue to admire the intricate mosaic glasswork and bizarre geometric curves up close.
