Terrain Dallas

Artist Iris Bechtol turned her own suburban front lawn into a rotating exhibition space, hosting site-specific, temporary installations woven into the landscape of a regular Dallas dwelling. Past shows have ranged from paper altars to flower forms scattered among Texas native plants.

The move: Time a visit to a current show (it runs only during exhibitions) and stroll the residential block of Elmwood to see the art tucked into the yard, then grab tacos nearby in Oak Cliff.

📍 Before you go This is artist Iris Bechtol's actual front lawn on a quiet residential street in Elmwood, Oak Cliff, so it only "exists" during an active show, and a run is on right now. There's no gallery, ticket, or appointment: you simply view the installation from the sidewalk and street, where free parking is easy. Treat it like the front yard of a home people live in, so visit in daylight, keep voices low, and don't wander past the yard. Pair it with the small walkable strip of Downtown Elmwood along South Edgefield for coffee, a tap room, or tacos, with the larger Bishop Arts District about two miles north.
