Yesterday's Playthings Doll & Toy Museum

Set inside the historic Old Montana Prison complex, this single-obsession museum stuffs in over 1,000 dolls spanning 1860s china and 1880s papier-mache up through Barbie and GI Joe. The unsettling centerpiece is the Patricia Campbell collection of more than 2,000 clown dolls staring out at you all at once. Railroad models, toy soldiers and a century of antique toys round it out. It runs as part of the prison museum complex and is generally open summers only.

The move: Brave the wall of 2,000 clown dolls together, then keep your nerve and tour the adjoining Old Montana Prison cell blocks.
