Seven Magic Mountains
Swiss artist Ugo Rondinone stacked 33 locally quarried limestone boulders — some over 10 tons — into seven Day-Glo-painted totems up to 35 feet tall in the middle of empty desert scrub; in March 2025 an unexplained extra monolith briefly appeared among them, and no one has ever confirmed who put it there.
The move: Drive out for sunset when the fluorescent paint glows hardest against the fading desert light, then keep going 5 more miles south into Jean for milkshakes before turning back toward the Strip.
