Entry No. 42 — the Missoula file — filed under: offbeat-museum
Miracle of America Museum
A sprawling five-acre village of 40-plus buildings crammed with one collector's lifetime of stuff: vintage motorcycles, a real Huey helicopter, pioneer hearses, military gear, and oddball everyday artifacts stacked into glorious disorder. Often called Montana's most diversified museum (and the "Smithsonian of the West"), it rewards wandering because every corner hides something you didn't expect. It is open year-round, seven days a week.
The move: Spend an afternoon racing each other to find the single weirdest object in the place, then compare finds over a milkshake in Polson on the way back.
