Entry No. 59 — the New York City file — filed under: arcade-play
Barcade (Williamsburg)
The original arcade bar that coined the format, open since 2004 and still running its cabinets on quarters (or Barcade tokens) at roughly 25 to 50 cents a play. The floor mixes golden-age classics like Punch-Out, Contra, Tapper, and Q-bert with a wall of pinball, and the taps lean hard into American craft beer with periodic single-brewery nights.
The move: Pocket a roll of quarters and take turns chasing high scores on Tapper and the pinball row between rounds of local craft beer.
📍 Before you go Games run on real quarters (25 cents); bring change. Opens 2pm daily, gets crowded on weekend nights.
