Entry No. 60 — the New York City file — filed under: arcade-play
Chinatown Fair Family Fun Center
A scrappy Mott Street arcade open since 1944 that was once famous for a live tic-tac-toe-playing chicken and became legendary as a fighting-game battleground before closing in 2011. It reopened in 2012 under new ownership and still runs daily as a no-frills, locals-and-kids arcade with a deep, genuinely old-school character that the polished barcades can't fake.
The move: Duck into this Chinatown holdover for a low-stakes round of head-to-head fighting games and skee-ball, then grab dumplings nearby.
📍 Before you go Open daily; cash-friendly, token/card based. It's a bare-bones family arcade, not a bar, so no alcohol.
