Entry No. 26 — the New York City file — filed under: art-immersive
Mercer Labs Museum of Art and Technology
Built into part of the former Century 21 building downtown, Mercer Labs is a 36,000-square-foot, multi-level maze of roughly 15 experimental rooms blending projection, light, sound and spatial design. Visitors move through changing atmospheres rather than looking at framed works, with reactive installations that respond to movement. It opened in early 2024 and continues rotating its lead installations.
The move: Lose each other and then find each other again wandering room to room as the projections and soundscape shift around you.
📍 Before you go Timed tickets are required and not cheap; allow 60-90 minutes, and check which lead installation is currently on view since they rotate.
