Fingerspan Bridge

A 59-foot Cor-Ten steel pedestrian bridge bent into the shape of a giant human finger, arrived at its ravine site by helicopter in six trips in June 1987. Thousands of half-inch holes perforate the deck so hikers can see the 40-foot drop to Wissahickon Creek below as they cross.

The move: Park on Allen's Lane, walk the 15-20 minute trail down Livezey Lane to the creek near Livezey Dam, then climb the WPA-era stone steps to cross the rusted finger-shaped bridge together and keep going along the gorge.
