Entry No. 18 — the Sacramento file — filed under: installation art

Verge Center for the Arts

A converted warehouse wrapped around 38 working artist studios and two galleries that show installation, performance, sound, and video work — not the safe stuff. The current show, 'Pocket Garden' by Ari Bird, runs through August 23, 2026, and the main gallery closes between exhibitions, so it genuinely rewards checking ahead rather than showing up on a whim.

The move: Go Thursday–Saturday 11–5 or Sunday 12–5, walk the current installation slowly, then wander the open studio doors of the resident artists on your way out — many keep them propped during gallery hours so you can see work-in-progress, not just finished pieces.

Where: 625 S Street, Sacramento, CA 95811

Hours: Added 2026-07-20 — confirm current hours before you go.
