Twenty-eight cantilevered concrete "petals" — engineered by Lake|Flato and California firm Matsys using plant-frond biomimicry — fan out over a former industrial laydown yard, funneling rainwater into a hidden 100,000-gallon underground cistern that captures roughly 825,000 gallons a year.

The move: Wander the free, self-guided petal pavilions at golden hour when the concrete throws long shadows, then follow the path down to where the San Antonio River actually meets San Pedro Creek.
