Entry No. 3 — the Santa Barbara file — filed under: giant troll sculpture
Lulu Hyggelig (Thomas Dambo Troll) — California Nature Art Museum
Built from over 80 wooden pallets and 30 wine barrels donated by local wineries, "Lulu" is Danish recycling-artist Thomas Dambo's first-ever indoor troll and California's first permanent one — a giant female troll wedged into the museum's front tower, with a backstory that she crossed the ocean and grew too fat on stolen Solvang pastries to leave.
The move: Find Lulu inside the tower of the California Nature Art Museum (the former Wildling Museum building), then walk Mission Drive's Danish-village storefronts hunting the same bakeries she supposedly raided.
