South Coast Railroad Museum at Historic Goleta Depot

A 1901 Southern Pacific two-story combination depot that was cut loose from its original tracks in 1970s and physically hauled to Lake Los Carneros park in a two-day move in November 1981 — it's now a National Register building filled with an HO-scale model railroad, the restored Freight Office, and Southern Pacific bay-window caboose No. 4023, plus a 7½-inch-gauge miniature train that circles the grounds.

The move: Ride the miniature Goleta Short Line around the museum grounds, poke through the caboose and freight office, then walk the adjoining Stow House grounds and Lake Los Carneros trails before the last ticket window closes at 3:45pm.

Where: 300 N. Los Carneros Rd, Goleta, CA 93117
