Entry No. 37 — the Seattle file — filed under: hands-on
Lawless Forge
A genuinely beginner-friendly blacksmith shop where in three hours you heat steel in the fire and hammer it into something you keep that day. The signature class starts you with half a real horseshoe and walks you through forging it into a usable knife, with belt sanders and power tools in the mix. Other options include a Space Needle bottle opener, a steel flower bouquet, a garden trowel, and a Damascus steel ring. No experience needed and free onsite parking.
The move: Take the horseshoe-knife class together and walk out each holding a blade you pounded out of an old shoe.
📍 Before you go Wear closed-toe shoes and natural fibers; classes book by date through the site.
