Entry No. 7 — the Washington, D.C. file — filed under: apothecary
Stabler-Leadbeater Apothecary Museum
A National Historic Landmark apothecary shop that operated 1792-1933 and still has its 8,000 original artifacts sitting on the same shelves — hand-blown medicine bottles, surgical and dental instruments, and the remnants of house-brewed remedies like the Civil War-era cough tonic 'Hot Drops.'
The move: Take the daily walk-through tour of the untouched shop, linger at the current 'Disease and the Apothecary' exhibit on historic outbreaks, then stroll Old Town's other 18th-century storefronts.
