Freak Alley Gallery
A working downtown alley that has been the largest open-air mural gallery in the Northwest since 2002, the cumulative work of more than 200 artists. Walls are painted over and reinvented roughly every couple of years, so the entire walk-through environment is genuinely impermanent, ranging from psychedelic dreamscapes to pointed political and pop-culture pieces. It spills out of the alley proper into an adjacent gravel lot, free and open around the clock.
The move: Wander the alley after dinner with a couple of coffees and try to pick each other's favorite mural before it gets painted over.
