Merlin's Realm
“refuses to stock a single piece of plastic… plants a tree for every day it stays open”
Tucked below a Greek restaurant on Old Colorado City's main drag, Casey Bopp — "Merlin of Manitou" — has hand-turned hardwood wands since 1988 in a shop that refuses to stock a single piece of plastic, plants a tree for every day it stays open, and quietly rescues thousands of pounds of food for the community.
The move: Duck down into Suite 20 beneath Jake and Telly's and let a genuine wizard walk you through a wall of handcrafted wands — then compare which one "chooses" each of you.
📍 Before you go You're in Old Colorado City's historic shopping district on W Colorado Ave, so park along the avenue or on the free side streets and walk in. The shop is easy to stride past — it's tucked downstairs in Suite 20, beneath Jake and Telly's Greek restaurant, so look for the lower-level entrance rather than a street-front window. This is a tiny one-person operation built around conversation, so come midday when it's open and plan to linger, not rush; it keeps short afternoon-only hours and closes Sundays (and sometimes for expos or festivals), so hours shift — check ahead. Pair it with the district's galleries and cafes, or lunch upstairs.
