Aztec Ruins National Monument Visitor Center

This site preserves a massive 900-year-old Ancestral Puebloan public, ceremonial, and residential center that was completely abandoned by 1300 AD. The archaeological site features the West Ruin, a great house with over 400 masonry rooms, original wooden roof timbers, and North America's largest reconstructed Great Kiva. Visitors can walk through the ancient interconnected rooms and passageways on a self-guided trail.

The move: Take a self-guided walk along the half-mile trail to explore the ancient masonry rooms, admire the 900-year-old original wooden ceilings, and step inside the beautifully reconstructed Great Kiva.
