Edith L. Moore Nature Sanctuary — Friday Night Hikes
Houston Audubon's 18-acre forest sanctuary west of the Loop opens for "Give a Hoot" night hikes October through March, when small groups walk the pitch-dark woods by red flashlight hunting for the sanctuary's namesake owl.
The move: Park at the cabin lot with a red flashlight and bug spray for the 7–8:30pm walk through dark woods a few minutes off Memorial Drive, listening for owls and whatever else stirs once the trails would normally be closed.
