Entry No. 4 — the Louisville file — filed under: medical history
Waverly Hills Sanatorium
Built in 1910 to isolate tuberculosis patients during the early 20th-century epidemic, this Tudor Gothic medical complex offers guided daytime historical tours and night paranormal investigations. Tours take visitors through abandoned treatment rooms and down into the famous 500-foot concrete 'body chute' used to transport deceased patients.
The move: Book a guided historical tour to walk through the five-story sanatorium and gaze down the long, eerie subterranean chute carved directly through the hill.
