Donkey Lady Bridge

A low, unremarkable concrete crossing that locals still won't drive alone after dark. The legend holds a woman disfigured by fire, her fused fingers and toes read as hooves, who is said to come out of the woods along the Medina River if you honk your horn and call her name.

The move: Drive out after dusk, park a respectful distance back, and see which one of you actually has the nerve to lay on the horn three times.

Where: Old Applewhite Road at the Medina River, San Antonio, TX 78264 (near the Toyota plant)
