Warhawk Air Museum
A privately built aviation and military-history museum where the unusual claim is that the historic aircraft are not just static displays but air-certified and capable of flight, a distinction very few museums can honestly make. Among roughly eleven war-famous planes are a P-51 Mustang, an F-86 Sabre, and a Vietnam-era Huey, surrounded by uniforms, posters, toys, postcards, and even a recreated section of the Berlin Wall packed into the hangars. It sits right at the Nampa municipal airport about 20 miles from downtown Boise.
The move: Drive out to Nampa and wander the hangars, then watch the active airfield from the museum side and pick the plane you'd take up.
