Entry No. 16 — the Bozeman file — filed under: oddities
Headwaters Heritage Museum
Set inside a 1910 former bank on the National Register, this volunteer-run museum is a glorious jumble of headwaters-area oddities. Star exhibits include an anvil pulled from the river that may be the oldest American-made anvil in existence, Montana's record 29.5-pound brown trout from 1966, and a sprawling barbed-wire collection. Upstairs recreates a vanished town with an old kitchen, schoolroom, millinery shop, beauty parlor, and dental office.
The move: Make a road trip of it and see who can find the single weirdest object, from the giant trout to the wall of barbed wire.
