A hidden bar reached through a secret passage in the kitchen of Musume, the Asian-fusion sushi restaurant across from the Dallas Symphony, or via a discreet red-lit door on Crockett Street. To reserve, you text a secret word found on its Facebook page; dinner at Musume is generally required for entry. Inside is a sultry, red-lit lounge with a gold DJ booth, plush velvet seating, and a serpentine banquette.
The move: Text the code word ahead, have dinner at Musume first, then get escorted through the kitchen's hidden door into the red-lit lounge for late cocktails; go on a quieter early-evening slot since the room leans nightclub once it fills up.
📍 Before you go AKAI lives inside Musume in the Dallas Arts District, right across from the Meyerson Symphony Center. There's no marquee: enter either through the restaurant after dinner, which is generally the expected path, or hunt down the discreet red-lit door on Crockett Street marked with a Japanese symbol. Plan on reserving ahead via the texted code word rather than just showing up. Come early-evening if you want the moody, conversational lounge; it tips toward a nightclub once it fills. Parking is downtown garages and valet, so build in a little extra time. Pair it with a Symphony, Nasher, or Winspear show next door.
